Emma Buttery.
Qualification: BSc (Hons) Occupational Therapy (University College of Ripon and York St. John 1993)
Emma has worked in Yorkshire in the NHS since qualifying. She is a core member of the Enable Therapy Services team and holds the position of clinical coordinator which involves undertaking rehabilitation assessments following injury and implementation of their recommendations.
As a senior Occupational Therapist, Emma is committed to providing a client centred approach at all stages of the rehabilitation process, acting as an advocate for clients wishing to improve their functional independence. She has a conscientious approach to her work and a warm, sensitive and professional manner with her clients, colleagues and others.
Emma has worked in hospital and community settings and has a breadth of experience of working with clients presenting with complex and multi-pathological needs. She can undertake evidence based functional assessments of daily living skills which identify the client’s physical, cognitive, psychosocial, social and perceptual needs to identify rehabilitation goals. She uses her highly developed organisational and communication skills to ensure clients are supported through their recovery following an accident or injury.
Her special interests are in the care of older people, particularly those who experience falls and balance problems. Emma also has experience of working in a Mobility Service, providing assessment and advice on driving, to individuals sustaining injuries following an accident or with long term disabilities. This also included identifying solutions to car access problems.
Emma is a member of the British Association of Occupational Therapists and Health Professions Council and maintains her registration through continual professional development.
