Welcome Gemma to the team
We are delighted to welcome Gemma to our Associate Network Team of OT’s, with over 15 years’ experience and an MSc in Advancing Practice in Neurological Therapy obtained to enhance her current specialist practice within the field of neurology. She has completed various training courses including Somek Neurological Hand Splinting, Wheelchair Assessment and Postural Management, Braintree Training: Cognitive Rehabilitation, Introductory Bobath, Mental Capacity Assessment Training and Fatigue Management Training.
Being a specialist in the field of neurology and with a wealth of experience, she works with both adults and children who are experiencing either neurological or general medical symptoms.
Gemma carries out a variety of complex assessments and treatment of neurological conditions; stroke, traumatic brain injury (including post-traumatic Amnesia), Multiple Sclerosis (MS), Motor Neurone Disease (MND), to name a few. She provides environmental assessments, recommending specialist equipment and minor adaptations, moving and handling assessments and recommendations, hand assessments and treatment including neurological splinting and implementation of splint regimes.
Gemma is also highly experienced in the assessment and treatment of children with cerebral palsy, rare genetic conditions affecting physical and learning needs, spina bifida and brain injuries.
She is an advocate for client-centred practice based upon client-led rehabilitation goals, to ensure they achieve the best possible outcome increasing their independence within the home and their community.
