Gary joined Enable Therapy Services in 2011 as an Associate Occupational Therapist. As an OT with specialist skills in Vocational Rehabilitation Gary quickly became a favourite with our referring parties and the Head Office Team.
He is a highly skilled practitioner with clinical expertise in the areas of brain injury, long-term neurological conditions, mental health, hand therapy and major catastrophic injury including amputees and orthopaedics.
Gary undertakes Immediate Needs Assessments, Telephone Diagnostic Assessments, OT Functional Assessments as well as a number of vocational assessments to include Transferable Skills Analysis, Functional Capacity Evaluations, Worksite Visits and Job Demands Analysis. Combined with his assessment skills Gary provides high quality report writing skills, essential to ensuring all parties have a clear understanding the clients assessed rehabilitation needs.
He is experienced in assessing individuals’ physical/mental health as well as cognitive abilities and able to make fully informed rehabilitation recommendations with sound clinical reasoning. Confident in assessing and subsequently making recommendations for care, equipment, therapy, environmental adaptation as well as transportation needs.
Gary has knowledge and skills to use a of number of standardised and non-standardised assessments to include neurological assessments, functional assessments and hand assessments to assess function in order to gain an in-depth knowledge of the client, inform appropriate clinical reasoning and further intervention.
From a vocational perspective, he has vast experience of liaising with employers, implementing reasonable adjustments as well as evidence based return to work plans and assisting individuals with various work preparation tasks. Gary also undertakes training of other occupational therapists in the area of Vocational Rehabilitation.
Gary is a member of the Health Professional Council and British Association of Occupational Therapists.
